Resurfacing lasers are used to greatly reduce facial wrinkles and skin blemishes and scars by directing concentrated, pulsating beams of light at the skin’s problem areas.
Why the Arctic Peel?
One of the most common and highly-recommended resurfacing laser treatment is called the Arctic Peel. Arctic Peels are laser treatments that require no anesthetic and have very little down time. The laser is used to remove superficial layers of the skin to make the complexion smoother.
A machine called the Zimmer Cooler blows cold air during the treatment to make it extremely comfortable. The Arctic Peel has been compared to microdermabrasion, but with 3-5 times the effectiveness in one treatment. Arctic Peels are great for individuals who are looking to:
- Manage oily or acneic skin in order to reduce breakouts
- Reduce fine lines
- Reduce the appearance of pore size
- Promote smoother, brighter skin overall
You can receive the Arctic Peel treatment every 3 weeks until you get desired results, or anytime you’re looking for a deeper exfoliation. If you’re someone who is planning to go swimming or use the tanning bed or you have darker-toned skin, an Arctic Peel is not the ideal treatment for you. If you have significant sun damage and deep wrinkles, a more aggressive resurfacing laser may be a better option for you.
Why the Microlaser Peel?
Another highly recommended treatment is the Microlaser Peel. This treatment will remove a thin layer of damaged skin to decrease fine lines, remove sun damage and increase overall skin texture. The depth of layer removed is different for everyone and is determined by your individual needs. As a result of your treatment, your skin will develop a healthy glow. Microlaser Peels help to revive the tired look with a vibrant fresh you. Because of this treatment’s effectiveness, most people only need one or two treatments.
The Microlaser Peel works through the use of a computer-guided scanner. This scanner moves the laser beam over the treatment area at a depth we’ll pre-determine. We’ll apply topical numbing an hour before your treatment, and we’ll determine if additional anesthesia will be needed. Immediately after treatment, the area will have a sunburn-like appearance and sensation. Over the next few days, a thin top-layer of skin will peel away. Most people prefer to remain at home during this three to four day peeling period, and both makeup and sun exposure should be completely avoided during this time. Once the top layers of skin have peeled away, you’ll be left with beautiful and radiant skin.
Why the Sciton Pro-fractional Laser?
The Sciton Pro-fractional Laser is a device that creates thousands of microscopic channels in the skin that leads to stimulation of collagen. This process tightens the skin to improve wrinkles and fine lines, leaving your skin will looking younger and smoother. We recommend three treatments 4-8 weeks apart, and the Sciton Pro-fractional Laser treatments can be combined with Microlaser Peel treatments to enhance your results.
This procedure is made comfortable with anesthesia. Like the Microlaser Peel, this procedure leaves a temporary sunburn-like sensation accompanied by redness and swelling. The face, neck and chest are the most commonly treated areas, and there is a minimal downtime of 3-4 days. During this time, you’ll need to avoid sun exposure until your skin has completely healed. To protect your fresh skin, it’s best to incorporate sunscreen as a regular part of your skin care routine.
